The mastery of Lionel Loueke - Lionel Loueke and students of the Hochschule für Musik Basel, Institut Jazz, FHNW
Lionel Loueke, one of the most important musicians in the current jazz scene, is not just an artiste who collaborates internationally with Herbie Hancock, Gretchen Parlato and many others, he is also a professor of jazz guitar at the Basel University of Music's jazz campus. Lionel Loueke grew up in Benin, and for this concert he is working with the students to develop their own way of accessing African music, something that has left a lasting impact on his musical work.
At the centre of this extraordinary concert will be a deep rhythm, depth, groove, playfulness and a kaleidoscopic variety of musical textures.
Lineup:
Lionel Loueke (guitar/vocals/lead)
Students: Sarahfina Osei Nopper (vocals), Francesc Badia Rotllan (trumpet), Javier Sánchez Rojo (tenor saxophone/clarinet), Moritz Renner (trombone), Joseph Bijon (guitar), Max Teakle (piano), Patrick Fitzgerald (double bass), Jan Zeimetz (drums)
